1. Who we are
The App is provided by Grenland Kompetanse AS (“we”, “us” or “our”). We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy.
2. Information we process
Depending on how you use the App, we may process:
- Game information: game names, player names, GameIDs, rounds, scores, bonuses, royalties, jokers, busts, sit-outs, dealer and fire/ice status, game settings and timestamps.
- Anonymous account information: an anonymous Firebase user identifier and authentication tokens used to connect your device securely to online features.
- Camera images: images of card rows when you actively choose to use the hand-scanning feature.
- Scanned hand information: recognized cards, royalties, scan status and confirmation details. Confirmed card results may become part of the saved round history.
- Purchase information: product, entitlement and purchase status, localized store price, remaining round balance, and a locally stored hash derived from the store transaction ID or receipt to prevent a round pack being granted twice.
- Device and network information: such as IP address, operating system, request details, diagnostics, security events and performance information processed by our service providers when online features are used.
- Local information: saved games, settings, Pro status, round balance and session information stored on your device.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- calculate, save and display game scores and player statistics;
- let players follow or submit information to a game using a GameID;
- recognize playing cards when you use the camera scanner;
- process and remember Pro access and round-pack purchases;
- create anonymous, aggregate usage totals such as games, rounds, player-hands and scans;
- operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the App; and
- comply with legal obligations and prevent misuse.
4. Camera and card recognition
The camera is used only when you choose the scanning feature and grant permission. The App prepares images of the top, middle and bottom card rows and sends them through Firebase Cloud Functions to OpenAI for card recognition. These images are used to identify cards, not people. We do not write the submitted images to the game database, and recognition requests are configured not to be stored by OpenAI.
The recognized card result is shown for review. If you confirm and save it, the card result and calculated hand details may be stored with the round and included in an archived copy of the game. You can use manual score entry instead and can remove camera permission at any time in your device settings.
5. Purchases
Optional purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play using Unity In-App Purchasing. The store handles your payment method and account. The App receives product, price, transaction, receipt and entitlement information needed to complete the purchase, restore Pro access where supported and maintain your local round balance. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
Pro status, remaining rounds and processed round-pack transaction hashes are stored locally in the App's encrypted save data. The App does not currently associate this information with a named OFC Calculator account.
6. Service providers
We use third parties to operate the App. They process information under their own terms and privacy documentation:
- Google Firebase for anonymous authentication, Realtime Database, Cloud Functions, App Check and website hosting.
- OpenAI to recognize playing cards in images submitted through the optional scanner.
- Apple and Google to distribute the App and process optional in-app purchases through their app stores.
- Unity In-App Purchasing as the software component used to connect the App to the relevant app-store purchase service.
These providers may process information in countries outside your own, using safeguards required by applicable law.
7. Legal bases
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the features or purchases you request, our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the App, compliance with law, and your consent for camera access or similar processing where consent is required. You may withdraw device permission through your device settings. Withdrawing permission does not affect processing already completed.
8. Sharing and sale of data
We share information with the service providers listed above only as needed to provide, secure and support the App, process purchases, or when required by law. We do not sell personal data and the current App does not contain advertising.
9. Game storage, archives and deletion
Active GameID records store game metadata in Firebase, while detailed round history is stored separately and made available to authenticated App users while the game is active. Anyone who receives a GameID may be able to view the related game, so share it only with intended players.
When the owner deletes a saved game in the App, the local game is removed and its online GameID is marked as deleted so it can no longer be used as an active shared game. A server-side archive of the game and its round history, including confirmed scanned-hand results where present, may be retained for aggregate statistics, service integrity, troubleshooting and legal obligations. Deleted and archived games can therefore still be included in anonymous totals such as the number of games, rounds and player-hands.
We retain online information only for as long as reasonably needed for these purposes. Locally stored information remains until it is deleted in the App, cleared through device settings or removed with the App. Local game, settings and purchase-state files are protected using AES encryption with a key derived for the installation, and the App maintains a local recovery backup. Encryption reduces risk but cannot guarantee absolute security.
To request access, correction or deletion of information associated with a GameID or device, contact us using the developer contact shown on the App Store or Google Play page where you downloaded the App. Include the relevant GameID, but do not send passwords or authentication tokens.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, receive a copy of your data, withdraw consent and complain to a data-protection authority. These rights may be subject to legal exceptions.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
13. Website information
This website does not create an App account or collect information through forms. It requests anonymous aggregate totals from our Firebase function and does not publish player names or individual games. Firebase Hosting, Cloud Functions and your browser may process basic request information such as IP address, browser type and requested page to deliver and protect the website. Links to app stores take you to third-party services.
14. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the App or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest revision. For questions or privacy requests, contact Grenland Kompetanse AS through the developer contact listed on the App Store or Google Play page.
